Tech in Education: It’s Not Just About Having Wi-Fi

These days, people talk a lot about bringing tech into schools giving students tablets, computers, internet access… and yeah, that’s important. But here’s the thing: just having the tech isn’t enough.

It’s kinda like giving someone a guitar and expecting them to become a rockstar overnight. Just because you have the tool doesn’t mean you know how to use it well. Same with technology in education.

What really matters is how we use it. Are students just watching videos and copying answers? Or are they learning how to think, explore, and create with these tools? Are teachers trained to guide them properly? Are we using tech to make learning better, or just to say “Hey look, we’re modern now”?

Also, let’s not forget: not all students start at the same level. Some kids might get a laptop at school, but no help at home. Others might have all the gadgets but no motivation. So we’ve gotta think beyond just giving access  we have to make sure everyone actually knows what to do with that access.

At the end of the day, technology should be a boost, not a band-aid. Real learning takes more than Wi-Fi.
